There’s a lot of great things about the month of February but arguably the best is that it is finally Girl Scout cookie season. Not only do you get an assortment of everyone’s favorite cookies but you also get to help young women as they learn to build confidence and character through the Girl Scouts program.
This year The Girl Scouts have had to get extra creative for cookie season. All of us here at Scottsdale airport decided that we wanted to go the extra step to find a way to help them really boost their sales! Volanti purchased 100 boxes of cookies that we will sell in our restaurant for $20 a box. Yes, this cost is more than your traditional box of cookies because 100% of your purchase is going to support a foundation close to our hearts — Gianna’s Force of Hope.
Gianna’s Force of Hope was established in honor of Gianna Hurtado, a five-year-old girl from Arizona who bravely found for 8-months against DIPG, a form of terminal brain cancer found in children. DIPG typically affects children under 7-years-old, and less than 10% of patients survive two years. Pediatric cancer research is an area still primarily funded through private foundations like Gianna’s Force of Hope and has allowed Gianna’s family to continue to honor the memory of their sweet daughter. Fundraisers like Volanti’s cookie sale help the foundation both raise funds for research and financially support families currently in their own fight with DIPG.
You can follow the Foundation directly on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/GiannasForceofHope/
where they highlight not only their own fundraising efforts but work to increase awareness of pediatric cancers like DIPG.
We will have cookies available at the hostess stand, with your server, and at the bar, until we sell out! So come out and don’t forget your take-home treats!
